NFMS Field Trip: Farson, Wyoming
Blue Forest Petrified Wood – May 20-24
The Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies, which is an umbrella organization to which our club belongs, is leading 2 rock hunting trips this summer. If you plan on attending either of them, please let Janel Lacey know (text 541-215-2839) so I can pass our club information on to the NFMS trip Leader, Doug True.
Where: Eden Valley out of Farson, WY
Tools: shovels, picks and other digging tools, rock hammer, gloves. Doug will provide probes, or you can borrow one from Janel Lacey before the trip.
Accommodations: Dry camping on site, or there is BLM campground called Slade Creek on the river (lots of mosquitoes), or hotel in Kemmerer, WY, 40 miles away.
Getting There: Out of Farson, go north on Hwy 189 for 19 miles. Turn right on Hwy 372 and go about 10 miles east to a 4-way junction. Go straight onto a gravel road down over the Green River (single lane bridge). Go east about 5 miles east on Road 8. Watch for a gravel road to the left (yellow standpipes at the north corner). At this point , turn left between the wire flags Doug set out and stay between the flags until you reach the site.

Annual Gem & Mineral Show September 12th & 13th 2026
Join us September 12th & 13th for the Annual Gem & Mineral Show hosted by the Marcus Whitman Gem & Mineral Society. This year will be extra special for we are also hosting and welcoming the NFMS, the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies.
Enjoy and discover beautiful jewelry, fossils, crystal, minerals. There will be live demonstrations, door prizes, a live auction, and lots of activities for kids.
Saturday, September 12th from 10am-5pm

Lapidary Shop Training
Whether you are looking to learn to cut, polish, or cab, we invite you to our Lapidary Shop Training. This is an introduction to our lapidary shop and is available to current members of the club who are at least 18 years old.
In this session, you will learn about safety equipment and how to use and operate the lapidary machines (from cabbing wheels, trim saw, polishing wheel), that will allow you the opportunity to work on your rocks and attend our lapidary shop open hours.
If you have never been through this training before, it is highly recommended that you attend. We want to ensure the safety of our club members and the longevity of our equipment with current knowledge of our lapidary shop.

Annual Christmas Party Potluck - No Regular Meeting
It’s time again for our Annual Christmas Party Potluck!
Instead of our regular 2nd Tuesday meeting, we will gather together on Sunday, December 14th and enjoy food, good company and a white elephant gift exchange. Event will start at 4:00pm, dinner will be served at 5:00pm, and then festivities will end with gift exchange.
The club will provide a turkey, ham, sodas and gifts for kids. We invite you to bring any additional side dish or dessert to share. If you would like to participate in the white elephant gift exchange, we ask that you bring a rock related gift that is worth $20 or less.
We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with you.

Stinking Water Field Trip
We invite you join us to Stinking Water September 19-21 near Burns, Oregon.
We will looking for petrified wood, jasper, and plume agate. There is dry camping available near the dig sites, although some areas require 4 wheel drive. If you are not interested in camping, there are motels in Burns available.

We are gearing up for our Annual Gem & Mineral Show and we would love your help. This show is always a success because of volunteers like yourself.
